Nominations and Election information for Mid-term Election

Members of ATU Local 1433:
Below is posted the Nomination and Election information that was mailed out to each of you at 4PM Friday, June 1, 2001. This notice was mailed out to your last known mailing address. If you do not receive one it means that the local does not have your current mailing address and you need to contact the union office at (602) 495-9466 to have your address updated for the upcoming elections. This will insure that you will receive an election ballot when they are mailed out later this month.
Below is the mailout for nominations of officers.

DELEGATES TO THE 53RD ATU CONVENTION AND
INTERNATIONAL OFFICER ELECTION and
ATU LOCAL UNION 1433 INTERIM OFFICER/MEMBER ELECTION

Nominations for delegates to the 53rd International Convention, and for Local Union 1433 officials, will be held at Local Union 1433's regular meeting dates, times, and place as listed above. The nominations will be the first order of business. The Convention will be held the week beginning September 10, 2001 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Local Union 1433 is entitled to representation of three (3) delegates.

Local Union 1433 is going to hold an interim Executive Board Member and Officer election at the same time as it holds the Convention Delegate election. Officers and Members elected will serve until the next regularly scheduled Local Union 1433 election.

Offices to be filled are: President/Business Agent, Vice President, Financial Secretary/Treasurer, Executive Board Member for Phoenix Transit System, Executive Board Member for Coach USA, and any other office that may come open by resignation of an elected representative during the nominations process.

Only members employed by the Phoenix Transit System can vote for the Executive Board Member for the Phoenix Transit System. Only members employed by Coach USA can vote for the Executive Board Member for Coach USA.

Delegates to the 53rd International Convention will be by virtue of their elected office. Officers attending the International Convention will be the President and Financial Secretary/Treasurer. The Vice President will serve as the alternate Delegate.

To nominate a candidate for delegate, you must be a member in good standing. Seconds are not required. To be nominated as a candidate for delegate, you must have been a member in continuous good standing for two (2) years preceding the nominations meeting. Please be sure your dues are current. No meeting attendance requirement will be enforced.

Members wishing to nominate another member, but who are prevented from attending the meeting due to official employer business or other substantial reason may submit their nomination, in writing, to the Recording Secretary, which must be received in the Local Union 1433 office prior to the opening of nominations on June 17, 2001.

Members wishing to be nominated, but who are prevented from attending the meeting due to official employer business or other substantial reason may submit their acceptance of nomination, in writing, to the Recording Secretary, which should be received in the Local Union 1433 office prior to the opening of nominations (06/17/01) but must be received no later than 48 hours after the nominations close on June 19, 2001.

Members wishing to be nominated but who are prevented from attending the meeting due to official employer business or other substantial reason may nominate themselves, in writing, and must submit their selfnomination to the Recording Secretary, at the Local Union 1433 office, prior to the opening of nominations on June 17, 2001.

Members nominated have 48 hours after the close of nominations in which to submit their acceptance of nomination, in writing, to the Recording Secretary.

To vote in the election, you must be a member in good standing at the time of the election. Please be sure that your dues are current. Please be certain that Local Union 1433 has your current mailing address.

If a delegate election is necessary, it will be conducted by secret mail ballot vote as follows: on June 22, 2001 a ballot and voting instructions will be mailed to the last known mailing address of each member. A ballot must be marked and mailed in sufficient time for it to be received at the Post Office Box designated on the ballot return envelope by no later than 9:00 AM, July 14, 2001.

Any eligible member who has not received a ballot in the mail at home by June 28, 2001 or any member who spoils a ballot may request a new ballot by contacting Kim Hennessey, Election Committee Chairperson, at (602) 5959809 or via email at: busgal_345@hotmail.com. If you request and return another ballot, only the replacement (duplicate) ballot will be counted.

If a runoff election is necessary, on July 18, 2001 runoff ballots will be mailed to the last known mailing address of each member. A ballot must be marked and mailed in sufficient time for it to be received at the Post Office Box designated on the ballot return envelope by no later than 9:00 AM, August 11, 2001.

Any eligible member who has not received a runoff ballot in the mail at home by July 24, 2001 or any member who spoils a ballot may request a new ballot by contacting Kim Hennessey, Election Committee Chairperson, at (602) 5959809 or via email at: busgal_345@hotmail.com. If you request and return another ballot, only the
replacement (duplicate) ballot will be counted.

Any protest regarding the election of delegates should be made in writing to the U.S. Department of Labor Election Supervisor as soon as possible, but no later than ten (110) days after the delegate election, to the following address:
